This vocational institute has been licensed by the Texas Workforce Commission. It offers two types of HVAC courses:

  • Commercial and Residential HVAC & Commercial Refrigeration: This is a nine month program which enables students to get an entry level position as a maintenance technician, commercial refrigeration technician or a commercial/residential HVAC mechanic.
  • Residential Air Conditioning and Heating Program: The students can complete this program in 4.5 months. After completing the program, students can work as maintenance technicians or HVAC technicians.

Accredited technician diplomas are awarded to the graduates of both programs.

  1. Austin Community College

Students can obtain either an associate’s degree or a certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning from the Austin Community College.

  • Certificate: This is a one year program. It prepares students to repair and troubleshoot cooling and heating systems, which are usually found in apartments and residences.
  • Associate Degree of Applied Science: This is a two year program. It is a continuation of the above mentioned program. It further explores refrigeration systems, commercial and industrial air conditioning etc.
  1. The Southern Careers Institute

This institute was established in 1960. It offers an undergraduate HVAC technician program. This certification covers a wide range of modules, such as green technology, refrigeration systems, venting and heating systems, air conditioning technology and troubleshooting etc.

  1. Central Texas AC and Refrigeration School

The school offers four types of certifications. The is for individuals who repair, service or maintain small machines such as vending appliances, PTECS, window ACs and domestic refrigeration. The second type of certification is for individuals who repair or service high pressure equipment such as process refrigeration, supermarket refrigeration, heat pumps and residential ACs.
The third category of certification is for people who service low pressure equipment. The last type of certification is for individuals who repair, service or maintain low and high pressure equipment, along with small machinery. These people are certified as Universal Technicians. These certifications are valid in all the states in America, as well as Canada.
