To become a solar energy technician, you have to get a high school diploma or equivalent degree. The next step is to get a certificate that teaches you about basic solar power, safety, and system design. After this, you can start applying for jobs. For the first few months, you will be training on the job. Your training may take up to a year depending on the technicality of the work you are expected to learn.
As a solar energy technician, you may come across systems manufacturers that will train you to install their specific systems.
